From the start we have had an unwavering belief that we can have a positive impact on the planet and prove that:
“Good for the enviornment is good for business”
PROTECTING OUR OCEANS
Working together towards a heathy ocean
We support Enaleia, a social start up, which was founded in Greece in 2016. Enaleia trains professional fishermen on how to earn more money, while catching less fish, assisting them to adopt new sustainable fishing techniques, such as fishing tourism.
Protecting ocean diversity
We support Tengah Island Conservation (TIC); a non-profit biodiversity management initiative located on Pulau Tengah, an island within the Johor Marine Park, Malaysia. TIC was formed initially in collaboration with Batu Batu, an eco resort located within the park. At the time, Batu Batu didn’t have a conservation team but noticed that sea turtles were being poached of their eggs and they wanted to protect the turtle population.
Recycled materials divert trash from the ocean
By using recycled polyester we are reducing our water consumption by 20%, energy consumption by 50% and CO2 emissions by 60%* (*Estimated data on recycled vs conventional polyester). Recycled polyester can be recycled again, which is why this material is highly valued in the circular economy. Most of the recycled polyester we use is made out of recycled plastic water bottles.
These bottles are recycled with a mechanical process that first transforms them into flakes and pellets, which is then spun into high-quality yarn. Depending on the type of garment we normally use 80-90% recycled polyester, and if the garment needs more stretch e.g. one of our rash vests, we will make up the other 10-20% with elastane.
